Leeds United: Patrick Bamford to miss Premier League showdown v Chelsea
Patrick Bamford has confirmed that he will miss the Premier League showdown between Leeds United and Chelsea on Sunday afternoon at Elland Road.
The England international has started the first two gams of the season, but was forced off during the first half of the 2-2 draw with Southampton last time out.
Bamford has now confirmed that he has a groin problem, and it will likely keep him in the stands for the visit of his former club to West Yorkshire.
Speaking in the latest edition of the official Leeds United podcast, Bamford shared the news that no one wanted to hear at Elland Road this week.
“I’m alright to be fair,” he said.
“I’ve got a slight groin injury, so I’ll probably miss the Chelsea game, but I think it’s all part and parcel of coming back, obviously I hardly played last year, even trained.”

Andrea Radrizzani simply has to react to this.
If the Italian was drifting towards the end of the window happy with the squad he has put together for Jesse Marsch, this is the moment that should change that.
Unfortunately, Bamford is not reliable anymore after that horror show in the 2021-22 season, and he is more prone to random injuries now, that is just how it is.
To think that we don’t have to sign a new striker and rely on him and Joe Gelhardt would be a huge mistake, and the fans would start to slowly turn.
With two weeks left in the window, there is more than enough time to get a deal over the line and more than enough money, given the £30million-plis that was on the table for Charles De Ketelaere.
Hopefully, this springs us into action and a deal can be put in place for a new number nine very soon.
