Leeds United: Pascal Struijk ruled out for entire season in new injury update
Leeds United defender Pascal Struijk has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on his latest injury blow, according to Phil Hay.
The Athletic journalist spoke to Daniel Farke in the pre-match press conference on 27 March as the boss explained the surgery was “long and complicated”.
It is also said that Struijk will be back for pre-season ahead of next season amid uncertainty with Leeds fighting for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
Brand new Pascal Struijk injury blow emerges at Leeds United
This news emerged after Dr Rajpal Brar told MOT Leeds News that after Struijk missed three months with an adductor injury and surgery on the cards for over a month, it would take a significant amount of time to get him back in training without risking further setbacks.
However, one positive to find from the latest injury blow is that Sruijk would have found it tough to get back into Leeds’ first team given the form of Joe Rodon and Ethan Ampadu – with Beren Cross going as far as to say it would be impossible.
Rodon’s performances have been so impressive that he has been heavily tipped with a permanent stay at Elland Road, particularly after his recent comments suggesting he would like to stay, and his place in the starting team is almost unchangeable.
Ampadu, meanwhile, has been one of the most consistent performers in the Championship this season at Elland Road and has become a key part of the team under Farke, whether he starts in midfield or at the back.
