Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani reacts on Twitter to U23s win over Manchester United

Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani reacted to a wonder-goal from Archie Gray as the under-23s comfortably beat Manchester United at Elland Road.

The age-group side dispatched the Red Devils 3-0 in the Premier League 2 match through goals from Stuart McKinstry, Max Dean, and the spectacular third.

It was an impressive showing, and the goal from Gray suggests the family dynasty at the club will go on a while longer yet.

In response to the victory the Italian club owner took to Twitter to reply to the club’s official account saying: “Played very well Lads”, along with the hashtag “pride”.

He followed that up with another message in reaction to the wonder-strike for the third, saying: “The future is bright …another Gray in the house”.

The teenager is the nephew of United great Eddie Gray, while father Andy and grandfather Frank also played for the club.

Bright future

The wonderful strike from 16-year-old Gray was a particular stand-out as he picked the ball up 40 yards from goal, after a poor clearance from the keeper, and blasted home from range past a defender on the line.

He has already been included in the first team squad, making the bench at the age of 15 as the injury crisis hit earlier this season.

The nearly 10,000 in attendance at Elland Road were treated to a performance that suggests there is plenty of talent coming through.

One of the factors that contributed to previous first-team manager Marcelo Bielsa leaving was the lack of integration of players from this group.

And on last night’s evidence it is easy to see why the man at the top wants to see more development from them in the form of contribution to the main squad.

If Jesse Marsch can get a couple of results to pull away from the drop zone we might get to see a few appearances from the players on show last night in the Premier League before the end of the season.

In other Leeds United news, a well-known Whites fan missed the high drama in the win over Norwich after leaving the game early.
