Leeds United offered Paris Saint-Germain’s Layvin Kurzawa with Premier League move likely

Leeds United have been offered Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa by his agency CAA, according to Media Foot Marseille.

The 29-year-old has recently switched to the same agents as a host of Premier League stars in the hopes of securing a move, as the French champions no longer need him and advisor Luis Campos wants him to leave.

The France international has fallen down the pecking order in Paris to the point where he only featured once in the 2021/22 season in a brief substitute appearance and has no future at the club, while United need left-back help after Junior Firpo was ruled out by injury.

The Media Foot report says: “Perfectly established in the Premier League, this company [CAA] is trying to find an English way out for Layvin Kurzawa.

“According to our information, the Parisian has recently been offered to Everton and Leeds.

“If the content of the exchanges between CAA and these two clubs has not filtered, there is a good chance of seeing the Frenchman leave Paris this summer for a Premier League club.”

Risky

If the price is right then this could be a reasonable option to fill in at a problem position for Jesse Marsch, but the club can’t be talked into putting big money into it.

Kurzawa may simply need to get out of what has become a bad situation for him, but it would be a risk for United to pay over the odds for a player who has hardly featured in a year and was only a rotational option in previous seasons.

He clearly has quality, having won 13 caps for the French national side, and he has extensive experience at left-back, but there are red flags.

Firpo struggled in his first season after €15million move from Barcelona, and is now out for up to eight-weeks with an injury, so Jesse Marsch faces starting the new season with a hole in his defence.

There are options to feature there as fill-ins, but a specialist at the position would make fans who are crying out for the club to bring someone in more comfortable.

Kurzawa signed a four-year contract extension at the Parc des Princes in 2020, but having fallen so heavily out of favour they should surely not expect a major fee.

What his wage demands are would likely be the main potential stumbling block, but if an affordable deal could be worked out it might be a timely marriage of convenience for player and club if he arrived at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, another more in-demand left-back option was suggested by a fan who had the idea destroyed by a journalist on Twitter.
