Leeds United offer Farke’s job to Real Madrid icon Raul as ‘dream’ scenario shared
Daniel Farke has continued to build on his sturdy Championship reputation by guiding Leeds United to promotion.
The achievement was the third of his career, having previously done so with Norwich City in 2018/19 and 2020/21.
Despite guiding the Elland Road club to the top flight, there have been doubts over his Premier League capabilities.
Indeed, the Leeds ownership were eyeing up candidates as a summer replacement for the German.

Raul has received several offers
Rumours of Farke’s potential sacking caused a stir within the football community.
How could a manager who has achieved promotion possibly be given the boot before the following season has even begun?
Club | Matches | Won | Drew | Lost | Points-per-match |
Norwich City | 208 | 88 | 47 | 73 | 1.50 |
Leeds United | 104 | 61 | 24 | 19 | 1.99 |
However, as strange as it sounds, this scenario has played out before.
Slavisa Jokanovic famously parted ways with Watford after he got the Hornets promoted during the 2014/15 campaign.
While Leeds looked like they were going to follow Watford’s unadvised strategy, they publicly backed Farke instead.
As the German prepares to build a squad for the Premier League, reports suggest that his job was offered elsewhere.
Diario AS (22 May) reports that Real Madrid legend Raul was offered the managerial position at Elland Road.
The former Spain striker etched his name in football history by notching over 400 career goals.
Of course, as previously stated, the Yorkshire club opted to keep faith with Farke despite the hierarchy’s concerns.
While Leeds would have been appealing, Raul’s dream job, however, would be driving Schalke 04 to their rebirth, as he prepared to leave as Real Madrid Castilla manager.
A fallen giant if ever there was one, the German outfit are lingering in the bottom half of Bundesliga 2.

Leeds United right to back Farke
Hitting the self-destruct button would be ill-advised for any team entering the Premier League.
Leeds’ doubts over Farke’s top-flight record are fair, but certain factors must be taken into consideration.
When the 48-year-old managed Norwich in the Premier League, he was not backed with a significant budget.
Therefore, the Canaries glided down without ever really taking flight.
This time will be different, as the German will be armed with a substantial war chest of over £100million.
Of course, that money will mean nothing if it is not spent well, just ask Ipswich Town and Southampton.
While Leeds will be unfancied next season, that could be their ace card as Farke strives to prove the doubters wrong.
