Leeds United offer Adam Forshaw new contract on reduced terms

Leeds United have offered a new contract to Adam Forshaw despite the midfielder being named on the club’s released list, according to TEAMtalk.

The Whites revealed that the 31-year-old was named on the list of released players after the club’s relegation to the Championship, but he was still invited to train with the first-team in pre-season alongside Joel Robles.

The new report states that the Whites have offered the Englishman a new deal on reduced terms, with the player now weighing up his options.

Dependant on new manager

Leeds can’t afford to make a concrete decision on Forshaw’s future until a new manager is decided upon.

Although the midfielder showed glimpses of class in the final few games of the Premier League season following a lengthy injury layoff, it all depends on the direction the new boss wants to take the club in.

Forshaw might have experience and an element of know-how about how to gain promotion out of the Championship, however, how susceptible is he to injury, and how many games can his legs get him through?

If the new manager is looking to bank on experience, then Forshaw is the man, however, managers such as Vincent Kompany last year at Burnley took the complete opposite approach and blew the league away with a high-tempo style of play.

This is certainly one to keep an eye on, but a final decision is unlikely to be made until the club’s vacant managerial position is filled.
