Leeds United now like unnamed new defender with two expected in door at Elland Road

Leeds United now fancy an unnamed central defender in the current summer transfer window, according to Graeme Bailey.

The 90min journalist has insisted that two new defenders could now arrive at Elland Road, with a left-back also wanted by Jesse Marsch and Victor Orta.

Injuries are causing problems again with Stuart Dallas and Junior Firpo out long-term, and Liam Cooper picking up a sore Achilles and not playing once in Australia.

Speaking to the One Leeds Fan YouTube channel, Bailey shared the latest plans in regards to new defenders potentially coming through the door this summer.

“I’ve heard a centre-halve they do like,” he said.

“I was surprised they weren’t in for Chris Richards, there was some interest there, he’s now off to Crystal Palace.

“I would expect a centre-halve and the other position which i do they are looking if left-back.”

Depth.

Having multiple options is clearly important and it is something that has haunted us in recent years.

Another central option looks unlikely at this moment though, and it may just be the left-back who is targeted at Elland Road before the September deadline.

Firpo was looking on course to start the Premier League in great form, hoping to put the nightmare first year behind him which was consistently interrupted.

With Dallas out injured, Leeds currently have no left-back option.

Pascal Struijk, Leif Davis and Jack Harrison were all used there at separate times in Australia, although not to much good use based on their performances.

They weren’t shocking, but it certainly proved a new face and specialist is needed.

That has to be the main priority alongside a new striker, a new central defender will simply be pt on the backburner, regardless of names they have put to one side.
