Leeds United now in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over Djed Spence deal – Sky Sports
Leeds United are now “in talks” with Tottenham over a deal to loan Djed Spence this season, according to Sky Sports.
The outlet reported via an update on their website Monday (28 August) that the two sides’ discussions were “not yet an advanced stage” and there are other clubs interested in the defender, with the Whites looking at multiple signings before the deadline.
It had emerged via Spurs-linked agent Paul O Keefe on Friday that an approach for the young right-back had been made, but it now appears actual negotiations are ongoing over a potential agreement before the deadline on 1 September.

Daniel Farke currently has veteran Luke Ayling starting on the right of his back line, with youngster Cody Drameh in reserve as well as Sam Byram, but the injured former Norwich man has been playing on the left so far this season.
He had a move for another ex-Canaries player Max Aarons on the brink of success before Bournemouth swooped in to hijack the deal on 9 August.
Positive
Just as a loan move for fellow Spurs defender Joe Rodon has helped solidify the centre of the defence a second one for Spence could prove very useful.
The 23-year-old’s switch to Spurs, following a fine season with Nottingham Forest as Steve Cooper’s side were promoted, hasn’t worked out and he needs regular football to get back on track.
The 4-3 win at Ipswich on Saturday (26 August) has shown that with the right players this Leeds United side could still be going places this season, and appears to have made the club more attractive to one uncertain target already.

And since Spence shined on loan in a promotion-chasing Championship club two seasons ago there is every reason to believe the same again would suit him.
It seems the Whites have taken the initiative and are looking to push ahead of rival interest, but anything could happen between now and the deadline.
Pushing to sign a prospective new starter on the right is the latest indication that Drameh’s long-term future isn’t at Elland Road, unless Farke misses out on Spence, in which case he surely deserves a proper run.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites have tabled a bid for a World Cup stand-out that has surpassed the offer of a rival club.
