Leeds United now enter talks with Patrick Vieira after new manager update

Leeds United are now in talks with former Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira about taking over at Elland Road, according to Business Day.

Leeds after their full 49ers Enterprises takeover are now desperately in search of a new manager for next season and have been strongly linked with the likes of Daniel Farke, Carlos Corberan and Scott Parker.

Vieira, who was axed by the Eagles in March having not won a game in 2023, has been out of work ever since and is now emerging as a contender for the role in the past 24 hours[Sky Sports, 20 June].

And according to Business Day print [21 June, page 47], the Whites are now in talks with interviews set to take place this week.

Former Norwich boss Farke is also set to meet the Leeds United hierarchy.

Choose Farke

Vieira actually embarked on an impressive journey at Palace, seeing as it was his first big role in England, getting his players to play an attractive brand of football while getting the fans onside with his approach.

However, his tenure did tail off dramatically, having not won a single game in 2023 before his sacking. Such a fall-off should really be taken into consideration by the Whites board, as such a drop-off will surely be punished in the Championship.

Leeds United

The Championship is an unforgiven league, and with the Whites desperate to secure promotion at the first time of asking, they simply cannot afford to go on long stretches of games without wins, and Vieira’s record points to that occurring again.

The Frenchman may not realise what he is getting himself into should he be appointed and Leeds United are better off appointing a coach who has mastered this league more than once. And that is Farke or even former Fulham boss Parker.

In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
