Leeds United now await Jack Harrison decision as Everton loan ends prematurely
Jack Harrison is facing an uncertain future after Everton boss Sean Dyche delivered an update on the Leeds United loanee prior to their clash with Sheffield United.
The 27-year-old has likely been ruled out for the rest of the season but was still pictured at Goodison Park ahead of the Toffees’ final home game against the Blades on Saturday (11 May).
Harrison’s future with Everton is unclear, with the manager unwilling to comment on the potential transfer situation, and he looks set to return to Elland Road at the end of his loan spell this summer.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Dyche said: “Jack is injured and it looks unlikely we’ll get him back before the end of the season. It’s unfortunate as he’s played a lot of football and done very well.”
Will Jack Harrison return to Leeds United this summer?
Of course, Harrison will be back at Leeds once his current loan deal runs out at the end of the season. The question is, will he stay at Elland Road or leave?
Considering Daniel Farke’s current squad, and the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Wilfried Gnonto and Dan James on the flanks, there does not seem to be much room for the loanee.
However, Harrison has become a key individual for Dyche this season, playing 29 of Everton’s 37 league matches and helping the Toffees to secure Premier League safety.
It would not be a surprise if the Merseyside club were to make the move permanent this summer although obviously it depends on their financial situation, and equally as unsurprising if Leeds were to allow him to leave.
Harrison seems to be a much better fit for the Toffees and could struggle if he were to stay with Leeds next season, whether they gain promotion to the Premier League or not.
Everton do have their financial issues to worry about, especially with the uncertainty surrounding the club’s takeover. But Harrison’s situation will probably be one of the first items on the agenda when it comes to Everton’s transfer planning.
