Leeds United, Norwich City play-off chances predicted by supercomputer

A supercomputer has predicted Leeds United as favourites to win the Championship play-offs after the form they showed throughout the regular season.

Opta Analyst (8 May) has suggested that the Whites have had a strong campaign which gives them a 33.2 per cent chance of promotion to the Premier League.

It has also been predicted that Daniel Farke’s side have a 58.8 per cent chance of progressing to the final past Norwich City.

Southampton are said to be Leeds’ closest opposition with a 26.4 per cent chance of winning the play-offs themselves.

How can Leeds United win the play-offs?

Although Leeds are given a high chance of getting past Norwich in the semi-final, it has to be said that they are unbeaten in their last 16 home games.

This is going to make it difficult for Farke’s side, who have won just two of their last five away games in the Championship.

With that being said, the Whites have won each of their last four matches against the Canaries. A Crycensio Summerville double was enough to help secure a 3-2 win last time out.

Southampton or West Bromwich Albion await the winner in the final. On the final day of the season, Leeds fell to a 2-1 loss at Elland Road on a day where they had to win.

Both sides fielded strong starting XIs but it was the away side that took all three points and a win into the playoffs.

It is going to be a tough run but Farke will be hopeful his side possesses enough quality to win the lot.

In other Leeds news, the 49ers were “really big” on one former Premier League manager before hiring Daniel Farke.
