Leeds United: Noises were loud over Kristoffer Klaesson exit from Elland Road, transfer approaches made
Leeds United fringe player Kristoffer Klaesson could well have exited the club over the summer transfer window, according to Beren Cross.
The Leeds Live journalist, writing in his latest article (2 January) shared that noises were loudest surrounding Klaesson’s possible exit over the summer but the approaches that were made were never good enough to activate his departure from the club.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper made only his second competitive appearance for the Whites in the 3-0 win over Birmingham on New Year’s Day, following Illan Meslier’s suspension and Karl Darlow’s unexpected injury absence.

Cross added that there was never any expectation Klaesson would realistically play for Leeds again.
Exit still possible
The 23-year-old certainly did incredibly well to help Daniel Farke and Leeds United to a much-needed win and clean sheet against Birmingham on Monday in what was a rare start for the youngster.
Klaesson even pulled off an impressive save at one point during the game which certainly shows he’s always been ready should he be called upon but with Meslier expected to return from suspension next time out, Klaesson may be forced into oblivion once again.

It is quite clear that Meslier and Darlow are well ahead of him in the pecking order but Leeds United have always required a competent number three option should the worst happen, and it did ahead of the Birmingham clash.
What the Norwegian must consider now is whether he’s content with his role at Elland Road or whether he feels he is good enough to pick up first-team opportunities elsewhere.
Given his age, potential and standing at the club, the latter option may need to be considered. It will be possible if he’s firm enough to demand it.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are targeting a Premier League ace as they prepare for a transfer blitz in January.
