Leeds United news round-up: Daniel Farke to be fuming as Liverpool compo details emerge
Leeds United have a week between matches, but that is not to say it is quiet on the news front.
Leeds picked up a decent point against Brentford at the weekend and return to action against Crystal Palace next Saturday.
Daniel Farke‘s side are on course to achieve their mission of staying in the Premier League, but there is still a long way to go yet.
MOT Leeds News rounds up all the goings on at Elland Road in the build-up to the Palace game, including an update on a possible January transfer.
Leeds transfer chief jets out, Genk star likely on their radar
The January transfer window opens in a couple of weeks’ time and Leeds will undoubtedly be eager to do some business.
It has now been reported that Leeds scouts were in attendance for Midtjylland’s clash with Genk, as were figures from Liverpool and Manchester United.
While it has not been disclosed who Leeds have been looking at, Franculino Dju has previously been linked with a switch to West Yorkshire.
Franculino has now undergone surgery that will rule him out until March, however, so let’s hope he was not the only player being looked at.
Lukas Nmecha injury update drops ahead of Palace clash
Lukas Nmecha has missed Leeds’ past couple of matches, although the Whites have coped well thanks to the form of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
However, Farke expects Nmecha to be fit to face Palace in a massive boost, while Gabriel Gudmundsson is also expected to be ready to go.
“I think it was cramp in the end, lots of effort – I don’t think it’s too bad,” Farke said of the latter.
Nmecha is expected to return to group training this week ahead of Palace’s visit to Elland Road on Saturday.
Daniel Farke will be fuming after Premier League announcement ahead of Leeds vs Crystal Palace
Leeds will head into the game against Palace with the aim of collecting three more points to, fingers crossed, put further distance between themselves and the bottom three.
The Premier League have now announced that Thomas Bramall will be the referee for Leeds’ clash with Palace.
| Leeds’ record against Crystal Palace | |
| Wins | 31 |
| Draws | 17 |
| Losses | 20 |
That may well be bad news for Farke as he was left angry with decisions the last time Bramall officiated Leeds in their 2-1 loss to Tottenham in October.
Leeds have won seven of their last 14 meetings against the Eagles, only losing four times.

Kai Morrall compensation update emerges as Leeds to complete Liverpool transfer
Leeds are already about to conclude some transfer business, albeit in a deal that has gone under the radar.
That is after it was announced Liverpool forward Kai Morrall is leaving Liverpool by mutual consent to join Leeds.
It has now been reported that Leeds will not have to pay Liverpool any compensation for Morrall due to the youngster leaving Anfield as part of a mutual agreement.
Morrall believes he will have a better shot of first-team action in the short term by joining Leeds.
