Leeds United news round-up: Daniel Farke set to axe player as Willy Gnonto exit news emerges

Leeds United fans are ticking down the days until their side return to Premier League action on 18 October.

Leeds were beaten 2-1 by Tottenham last weekend, with that loss coming ahead of the two-week international break.

Still, it has been a positive first couple of months back in the big time for Leeds, who will have one eye on that fast-approaching showdown with Burnley at Turf Moor.

While club action may have paused on the field, there have still been plenty of stories regarding Leeds over the past 24 hours.

Leeds set for surprise December friendly vs Kaizer Chiefs

Late November through December tends to be a very busy time in the footballing calendar.

Despite that, Leeds have agreed to a friendly with South African side Kaizer Chiefs.

It has been reported that the game will be played in December, though it is not known whether it will be against the senior side or – more likely – the youngsters.

Kaizer Chiefs will also face Manchester United during their tour of the United Kingdom later this year.

Leeds handed massive Piotr Zielinski transfer boost

Leeds are looking to bring in at least one more new player in January in attack.

Piotr Zielinski is a name that has been been linked previously, and the Inter player may now be more open to a move to Elland Road.

That is because Zielinski has been warned by Poland manager Jan Urban he needs to be playing more.

Zielinski has barely featured for Inter this term, with his three Serie A appearances each coming from the bench.

Karl Darlow faces Leeds axe after what Daniel Farke told the media

Karl Darlow will be in international duty for Wales on Thursday evening against England at Wembley.

Darlow has been a regular for Leeds of late due to Lucas Perri suffering an injury early on in his Elland Road career.

While Darlow would have hoped to have done enough to retain his starting spot, Ian Darke does not believe that will be the case.

Farke last week told the media that Perri is back in training and close to a return.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Darke said: “I would have thought Perri would get the place back when he’s fit again.

“They beat Everton 1-0 with him in goal, they lost to Arsenal 5-0, but you could put that to one side, and then the 0-0 with Newcastle.

“He’s had two clean sheets in three since he’s been brought in as the number one. I would have thought that when he’s fit again, Perri will reclaim the place, but it’s good for Leeds that you know Karl Darlow can come in, and there’s not really any drop off.”

Saudi Arabian clubs ready Willy Gnonto approach

It is not just incoming business that could be conducted at Elland Road in January.

Players will also likely move on, and there’s fresh news regarding attacker Willy Gnonto.

As exclusively revealed by MOT Leeds News, Gnonto is attracting interest from teams in Saudi Arabia ahead of the winter window.

Gnonto has started three of the four Premier League games he has been available this season, but Leeds may have a big decision on their hands in a couple of months’ time.
