Leeds United: Patrick Bamford makes Brentford ace Ivan Toney transfer admission
Leeds United gem Patrick Bamford has named Brentford striker Ivan Toney as the ideal player he would like to play alongside at Elland Road.
Bamford has been in superb form for United since the turn of the year, scoring eight goals in 13 matches in all competitions.
The Englishman could soon be leading the line for Leeds in the Premier League, where the Whites will come up against Toney.
Asked on My Mate’s A Footballer podcast [14 March] who he would love to play alongside, Bamford said: “If I’m going to go for someone who’s playing at the minute, as a strike partner it’s difficult because there’s not many that play two up front.
“Someone I would like to play with, who I think would be great, is Ivan Toney. I quite like to run in behind and stuff, whereas he’s more of a typical target man.
“I think people are starting to notice now, but he is obviously a good player in terms of not being reliant on that. His whole all-round game is good, but I feel that’s another one I’d work off.
“He’s a handful for defenders, in terms of physicality and the way he occupies defenders.
“Especially the way Brentford play, he’s crucial to that, so he takes a lot of attention of the defenders which would obviously benefit a strike partner. He also gets a lot of assists as well, so it would be interesting.”
Ivan Toney reportedly wanted by Arsenal
Toney missed the first half of the campaign due to his betting ban, but he has made up for lost time since then with four goals in nine games.
It is little wonder that the England international has been linked with some elite Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, ahead of the summer transfer window.
Bamford has formed a superb connection with Georginio Rutter in the Leeds attack, but the top flight is a step up in quality, as he knows full well.

Having Toney up top with Bamford, Rutter, Piroe and the countless other attackers providing back-up would of course be a dream scenario.
While Toney is out of Leeds’ price range, a player with Premier League pedigree will likely be on the club’s radar should promotion be sealed.
Before fans can start to get excited about those who may or may not join, though, all focus has to be on finishing second in the Championship.
