Leeds United news: Martin Diggle to leave Liverpool for Elland Road

Martin Diggle is set to leave Liverpool and take up a position at Elland Road to be the new Leeds United Academy Director, according to Training Ground Guru.

The website reported on Thursday, 22 February, that he will be replacing Adam Underwood behind the scenes.

Underwood, who held the Academy Manager position since 2009, was promoted back in July 2023 to Head of Football Operations.

With almost five years of experience as Head of Coach Development at Liverpool, where he supported the development of coaches across the Academy, Diggle brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new role.

His previous nine-year tenure at the Football Association, particularly as Head of Professional Game Coach Development, underscores his capability to deliver professional game qualifications and manage technical staff.

Having also coached at esteemed clubs like Oldham Athletic and Bolton Wanderers, Diggle’s hands-on experience enhances his understanding of player development pathways and the intricacies of elite youth coaching.
