Leeds United news: Links with former Celtic and Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers clarified
Former Liverpool and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is not reported to be a subject of a last-gasp hijack from Leeds United.
The Daily Record reported on 13 June that Leeds were planning to hijack any Celtic move to appoint their two-time league winner.
However, the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth has revealed that not to be the case and has also claimed that there have been no meetings between Rodgers and Leeds.

He wrote on 14 June, “Reports of a last-ditch Leeds United attempt to hijack Brendan Rodgers’ expected Celtic return are wide of the mark.
“Rodgers’ managerial ability has long been admired at Elland Road and when thoughts turned to this summer’s appointment his was a name that featured prominently.
“But the YEP understands that while Rodgers has not definitively turned the role down, nor has he met with the Whites and thus far hasn’t appeared keen on a return to the English second tier.”
All but ends it?
Leeds should now be ending their pursuit of Rodgers as it’s pretty evident that he does not fancy moving to the Championship.
For someone who’s managed in the Champions League, won top flight league titles and an FA Cup, on paper, it seems like a step down.

There’s also not enough clarity as to who the new sporting director will be and what the San Francisco 49ers’ expectations are from the manager.
Celtic is by far a safer job even though it’s not a better one as there’s nothing like managing in the Premier League – somewhere Leeds aspire to be next season.
The Whites board will perhaps shift their attention elsewhere now and it remains to be seen who they end up bringing in.
There are talks about Daniel Farke but the feeling is that they can do better than him.
In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
