Leeds United: Ian Wright reacts to footage of what Patrick Bamford did in win v Peterborough

Ian Wright took to Twitter to applaud the goal scored by Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford in the FA Cup win over Peterborough United.

Bamford scored an outrageous goal for Leeds at The Weston Homes Stadium to put them 2-0 up after Ethan Ampadu had opened the scoring.

The FA Cupโ€™s Twitter account shared footage of the goal [7 January], which goalscoring great Wright responded to with five clapping hand emojis.

Take a bow

Bamford controlled a long pass on his chest, swivelled and volleyed a dipping strike over Fynn Talley from about 25 yards out.

The fact it was all done in one, slick movement made the goal all the more remarkable.

It is one that Bamford will no doubt watch over and over again, and it is unlikely he will score anything better than this again in his career.

That strike came at a good time for Leeds early in the second half as it gave them some breathing space against their League One opponents.

Leeds United

Bamford has now scored in successive matches for the Whites, having badly struggled for any sort of form in the first half of the season.

All of a sudden, Daniel Farke now has another option to choose from up top. On the basis of this goal, Georginio Rutter may well be concerned.

In other Leeds United news, the son of a billionaire is reportedly โ€œobsessedโ€ with the idea of a certain development at Elland Road.
