Five first-team players start for Leeds U23s v Fulham, inc defender who played v Man Utd
Five first-team players are starting for the Leeds United Under-23s this afternoon as they take on Fulham at Thorp Arch.
Helder Costa hasn’t featured in the Premier League since the game against West Ham and he was dropped from the squad against Newcastle.
He made the subs bench at Old Trafford but didn’t get on the pitch.
One player who did is young defender Leif Davis. He starts today for the Under-23s as he continues to impress.
Pablo Hernandez, Tyler Roberts and Ian Poveda also start today in a really strong line-up.
Leeds just need a draw to top the PL2 Division 2 over Christmas and started off fast, taking the lead after just five minutes.
Leeds announced the team news on its official Twitter page ahead of the midday kick-off.
Fine way to banish the blues
The Leeds Under-23s are having a brilliant season, topping the table in Division 2.
They’ve been very strong at Thorp Arch this season and are still unbeaten at home, with five wins and one draw from six matches.
You can watch the game live on LUTV and on Twitter, and it’s a fine way to banish the Monday blues after a fairly horrific experience at Old Trafford.
Our eyes will be on Costa, who will be looking to make a statement after being dropped from the first-team squad.
We hope that’s what’s going to happen. Costa might have been inconsistent this season but he’s a player we need to be firing even if it’s for an impact from the bench.
We want to see a fantastic attitude from the winger, in what’s a pretty cold and misty Thorp Arch today.
Pablo Hernandez didn’t get any minutes at Old Trafford and he’ll be looking to impress again and make his play for a return to the first-team.
