Crysencio Summerville injury update shared ahead of Leeds United clash vs Bristol City

Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville is a doubt to face Bristol City next week, according to Beren Cross.

Summerville missed the 1-1 FA Cup draw with Plymouth Argyle on Saturday (27 January) with a adductor muscle injury.

Daniel Farke is hopeful the Dutchman will make a swift recovery, but he is in a race against time to be fit for the trip to Ashton Gate on 2 February.

Writing for Leeds Live [27 January], Cross stated that Summerville is “far from certain of recovering for next week’s Bristol City match”.

Other options

Summerville has been Daniel Farke’s best attacking player this season thanks to his 19 direct goal involvements – a tally bettered only by Morgan Whittaker (21) and Adam Armstrong (25) among Championship players.

Being without the 22-year-old for a run of games could prove bad news for Leeds, as was the case against Plymouth when a lack of cutting edge cost the Whites victory.

What Farke cannot risk doing is rushing Summerville back, even if that means letting the attacker rest up for the trip to Bristol City.

Leeds have a very busy run of games coming up – even more so with a replay against Plymouth to factor in – so it is wise to be patient with Summerville.

The positive news is that United have plenty of other attacking options, with fringe player Jaidon Anthony catching the eye with his goalscoring display against Argyle.

This may be exactly the point when that strength in depth comes to the fore.

In other Leeds United news, two players scored a 3/10 with their performances against Plymouth.
