Leeds United: Robbie Savage amazed by Chris Sutton prediction live on BBC
Robbie Savage was amazed to hear Chris Sutton predict that Leeds United will pip Leicester City to the Championship title.
Leeds beat Leicester 3-1 in a top-two clash at Elland Road on Friday (23 February) to move within six points of the leaders.
The Foxes have struggled for consistency in recent weeks, whereas Leeds have put together a nine-game winning run in the league.
Asked on Radio 5 Live’s 606 [24 February, 8:45pm] if he thinks Leeds will go up automatically, Sutton said: “Looks that way. I fancy Leeds to win it.”
Savage then followed up with, “to win the title? Wow”, to which Sutton simply replied: “Yep”
Leeds United chasing down Leicester City in top spot
Leeds are the most in-form team anywhere in Europe right now, so anything is possible.
Supporters will not get too far ahead of themselves, and second place does remain the target at this stage.
Thanks to Southampton’s home loss against Millwall on Saturday (24 February), there is now a five-point gap on the Saints in fourth.
Ipswich Town are refusing to go away after a previous blip, though, and are only behind the Whites on goal difference.
If Daniel Farke was offered second place now, six points behind Leicester in first, he would bite your hands off.

Finishing above Leicester in top spot would be the cherry on top of the cake, and an almighty turnaround from the tail end of 2023.
On current form, that cannot be ruled out. But as easily as this winning run has been put together, a losing one could follow.
To borrow the oldest cliche of them all, let’s just take it one game at a time from this point on.
