Leeds United news as Stuart Webber serves notice at Norwich City
Norwich City sporting director Stuart Webber has served his departure notice at Carrow Road and is one of the names spoken about at Leeds United as a possible replacement for Victor Orta, according to Phil Hay.
The Whites confirmed Orta’s departure on Tuesday 2 May, with manager Javi Gracia following the sporting director out of West Yorkshire after a dreadful run of results in the Premier League, ultimately leading to relegation.
Leeds have been searching for a successor since then and Leeds All Over claimed on Friday 5 May, that Webber is high on the club’s wishlist of potential successors.

And that claim has now been backed up by Hay, who took to his personal Twitter account [13 June] and tweeted:
“Norwich City announce that sporting director Stuart Webber is leaving the club. One of the names spoken about by Leeds as a possible replacement for Victor Orta.”

Structure needed
Leeds United are certainly undergoing plenty of change right now, after the confirmation of the 49ers Enterprises’ full takeover of the club which now means they can move forward with the search for a new manager and recruitment.
However, the sporting director role also needs filling, and fast.

Orta’s departure was unexpected but required. The Spaniard’s decisions over the past year were nothing short of disgraceful costing Radrizzani and the whole club a lot of money and ultimately the club’s Premier League status.
If the Whites are to swiftly return to the Premier League big-time, the American investors need to ensure that there is the appropriate structure at Elland Road from top to bottom, and one of the key positions is certainly the sporting director role, which Leeds United have needed an upgrade on.
Webber has worked at Norwich for a long time and knows what’s needed to get a team out of the Championship and his astuteness and knowledge around the country could work a treat with Leeds United in the long run. His appointment as Orta’s successor seems a no-brainer.
In other Leeds United news, doubts have emerged within the 49ers investment group over whether the Whites’ buy-out is the right move.
