Leeds United news as new manager hunt already underway at Elland Road

Leeds United are already considering new managers to replace Sam Allardyce for life in the Championship and talks are expected about his future this week, according to the Daily Mail.

Allardyce, 68, managed to win just a single point from his four games in charge in the Elland Road dugout, with the Whites finishing the Premier League season with 31 points.

The report said that the Englishman is keen on remaining as manager and believes he can help the club bounce straight back up to the top flight.

However, the Daily Mail wrote [30 May, page 66]: “But the club are already considering other options and Allardyce would be an unpopular choice with supporters.

“Allardyce wants talks this week to ‘thrash out’ his future and believes he can guide Leeds to promotion.”

As expected

When Allardyce came into the job a few weeks ago, it was always expected that he would be straight out of the doors if the club dropped down to the Championship.

Although the Englishman introduced a level of pragmatism to life at Elland Road, the football was dire.

There were tough tests against Manchester City and Newcastle granted, but the games against West Ham and Spurs included some horrible football to watch.

Lumping it long just doesn’t work with this current group of Leeds players, and it seems like this was the only way that Big Sam could gain results with this crop of players.

He can’t be blamed for not keeping Leeds United in the Premier League, as it was the preceding 34 games of the season that was where the trouble started, but Allardyce doesn’t look the man who can help the club bounce straight back up.

A decision needs to be made quickly, that’s for sure.
