Leeds United news as Manchester United ace Hannibal wowed by Georginio Rutter v Millwall

Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri was wowed by Georginio Rutter’s performance for Leeds United against Millwall on Sunday 17 September.

The striker scored his second goal of the Championship season in the Whites’ 3-0 win at The Den (17 September) confirming the three points would be returning to Elland Road with a superb left-footed finish in front of the away fans in the closing stages.

It felt as though Rutter and Leeds finally began to click in their win, showing the free-flowing attacking football Daniel Farke has been looking for and Hannibal was seemingly impressed by the French forward’s performance.

Replying to the striker’s Instagram post (17 September) following the game, the 20-year-old midfielder who scored his first Premier League goal last week against Brighton, replied: “Facile” with a fire emoji next to it, facile meaning easy in French.

Easy

It hasn’t been the easiest start to the campaign for Rutter or anyone at Elland Road for that matter, with a stuttering start to the season in terms of results and the forward has found it difficult to consistently find the back of the net with criticism over his finishing.

But against Millwall, any question marks over the Whites were well and truly brushed to the side as Leeds demonstrated their attacking talent as well as keeping a clean sheet away from home, something that would have been a dream last year.

There isn’t often much love shared between Manchester United and Leeds players, but with Rutter and Hannibal a similar age and both French youth internationals, they will have likely spent more time as teammates rather than rivals in league football.

Hopefully, an early goal following the international break will give Rutter the confidence to kick on and establish himself as Leeds’ main man in attack. The combination of him and Joel Piroe worked excellently at The Den and could be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

In other Leeds United news, Farke has been left fuming by the fixture schedule for the Whites for the next week
