Leeds United could be set for a "huge fine" or even worst after one of their fans confronted Eddie Howe against Newcastle on Saturday, according to The Mirror.

The newspaper wrote in its print edition today [15 May, pg 46] that part of Elland Road could even be partially closed as the FA launched an investigation into the matter.

The fan in question has already been handed a lifetime ban by the club and will now appear before Leeds magistrates after being charged with assault too.

Jeremy Cross wrote: "The FA have launched an investigation into how a Leeds fan was allowed to get on to the pitch and confront Newcastle boss Eddie Howe at Elland Road.

"Leeds said the club had banned a supporter for life. But FA bosses will come down hard on the club.

"Leeds will be charged with failing to control their own fans. Punishment could be a huge fine or even a partial closure of the stadium."

Leeds United

Stupid.

There are no excuses for idiotic behaviour such as this.

Only the club will be properly punished too should a "huge" fine or partial stadium closure be thrown at them by the FA, given that the fan knew he would get a lifetime ban if he did this.

There have been far too many incidents of parents sending their young kids onto the pitch in order to get player shirts in recent years, and they were followed by warnings each and every time.

A fully grown man running onto the pitch to confront Howe is nothing short of embarrassing to himself and the club, and the stewards need to take a long look at themselves.

No doubt, the club will also run their own investigation as to how this was allowed to happen, with potential changes needed ahead of the final game against Spurs.

Lets hope that game can go ahead with no changes to attendance, the crowd will certainly be needed.
