Leeds United news as Daniel Farke has qualities to re-shape squad at Elland Road

Daniel Farke is said to possess the qualities desired by Leeds United bosses to re-shape the squad at Elland Road, according to a Daily Mail report.

The German coach was most recently with Borussia Moenchengladbach in the Bundesliga but a tenth-place finish last season was not enough to save him from being relieved of his duties.

The 46-year-old, with two promotions at Norwich City under his belt, is now considered the leading contender to step into the head coach role at Leeds.

The Mail report from Simon Jones outlined why he is believed to have the credentials required to return the club to the top flight instantly.

“His record in the Premier League was not so impressive but Leeds want to ensure they secure promotion first and believe the charismatic German has the qualities to re-shape their squad.”

Know-how

Getting promoted out of the Championship once is laudable, but to do it twice shows a deep understanding of the extent of the challenge and how to overcome it.

That track record is a major asset to Farke in terms of his suitability for the vacant position at Elland Road and he is now said to be in front of the likes of Scott Parker and Patrick Vieira to be appointed.

His obvious struggles in the Premier League are an issue, but that is something to worry about later. The primary objective for all at Leeds is to get out of the second tier, immediately.

Farke’s previous woes with Norwich will provide a learning point for him, just as there are squad issues when competing with the elite but his first mission will be to assemble a group of players, after the requisite buying and selling, to get the job done in the upcoming campaign.

On that basis, he appears a sound choice for what lies ahead.
