Leeds United duo Darryl Ombang and Marley Wilson called up to first-team training
Leeds United academy duo Darryl Ombang and Marley Wilson were called up to first-team training this week according to the LUFC Youth Twitter page.
This is a positive step in the future of the duo’s careers and the youngsters are two names that the Whites faithful will have to keep an eye on.
It was announced on Saturday 3 December that both Ombang and Wilson “have been involved in first-team training” ahead of the trip to Spain.
“Leeds United football club Under-18s goalkeeper Darryl Ombang & attacker Marley Wilson have been involved in first-team training this week,” said the unofficial Leeds youth football Twitter account.
The first-team training promotion is another step in the right direction for the young duo and likely means that they are part of Jesse Marsch’s future plans.
Wilson signed a two-year scholarship deal with Leeds United on September 15 which will keep him at the club for the foreseeable.
Goalkeeper Ombang signed a professional contract this summer on August 10, which will see him staying at Elland Road until 2024.
Ombang is arguably the more exciting youngster to look out for, the towering goalkeeper has made waves in the youth ranks at Leeds and has featured for England at the Under-17 level.
Leeds signed the promising shot-stopper from Bradford City and it’s hard to see how the teenager slipped through the cracks of the Whites’ youth recruitment system early on in his career.
Nevertheless, it’s going to be fun to see how both players’ journeys play out with Leeds United, fingers crossed, they’ll both become first-team squad members in the coming seasons despite never being seen before.
