Leeds United must re-ignite transfer pursuit of Middlesbrough striker Chuba Akpom
Leeds United should look at Middlesbrough striker Chuba Akpom once again in their quest to sign a new forward this summer.
talkSPORT reported in March 2023 that the Whites will target the 27-year-old in case Boro fail to get promoted and that’s exactly what happened.
The London-born striker is understood to be on the market this summer and will be a good option for Daniel Farke’s side.
Sky Sports journalist Ben Grounds wrote on Twitter, “Chuba Akpom: 27 years old, Championship top goalscorer and POTS last season, into the final year of his contract at Middlesbrough, who value him at £15m. Definitely worth a punt for several PL clubs in need of a striker.”
Akpom was the Golden Boot winner last season and this is a league he’s known for scoring goals in abundance.
Rodrigo has left and Patrick Bamford cannot be trusted to stay fit and be a reliable goal scorer for Leeds.
Farke will absolutely love working with Akpom and the 27-year-old can be a game changer for the Whites.
It remains to be seen if Leeds are successful in convincing him to move to Elland Road.
Farke needs to use his pulling power to try to get this over the line.
In other Leeds United news, an update has emerged on the club’s pursuit to sign two centre-backs this summer with a winger now on the radar as well.
