Leeds United must move fast to keep loanee Cody Drameh at Elland Road as worrying transfer news emerges
Leeds United must quickly secure the future of loanee Cody Drameh after news emerged he has a potential transfer offer on the table ahead of the summer window.
Drameh has successfully spent the second half of the season out on loan with Luton Town, helping them into a tremendous 3rd place position in the Championship playoff places with four games left.
Reliable transfer guru Fabrizio Romano revealed on 14 April that no new decision on the youngster’s long-term future has been made and Drameh will make his own decision on his long-term future at Leeds United after the Championship playoffs with Luton.

However, according to former Eurosport journalist Dean Jones [18 April], speaking to GiveMeSport the right-back could be one of the players leaving Elland Road in the coming months as he has offers on the table which come as some worrying news to the Elland Road faithful given the exciting young squad being moulded at Thorp Arch.
The 21-year-old will be entering the final year of his contract next season and has been linked with an exit for over a year.
And Jones told GiveMeSport: “It’s looking like he wants to see what else is possible for him next season and see what doors will open. It sounds like he might even have a potential offer on the table, so I think he’s probably close to a potential exit.”
Right-back has been a problem position for both Jesse Marsch and Gracia this season, with Luke Ayling seemingly past his best and Rasmus Kristensen proving an unreliable option since his January move.
And given the club’s dreadful defensive displays over the past couple matches, it could prove incredibly damaging for the club’s long-term goal if they were to let go of a player vastly excelling over at the Hatters this season.
Drameh has been something of a revelation at Luton, given that they have only lost once in his 13 appearances for the club, which came in a narrow 1-0 defeat against runaway leaders Burnley. Across his Championship appearances, the 21-year-old has averaged an incredible 7.38 rating from WhoScored, which sees him ranked as the best player in the squad.

The 21-year-old has averaged a phenomenal 1.4 dribbles and 1.8 key passes per game for Luton, which isn’t bettered by anyone at Leeds, while his 3.2 tackles per game are only topped by Tyler Adams (3.7), suggesting he could provide the Whites with the defensive edge they’ve been longing for in the long-term.
Given the struggles of Kristensen and Ayling this season, which have seen them earn 6.67 and 6.55 ratings from WhoScored respectively, Leeds United can ill-afford to be making any rash decisions on Drameh’s future.
Instead, they should be swiftly leaning towards keeping him if they are to piece together an exciting crop of players for a sustainable future at Elland Road. Give him that new deal.
In other Leeds United news, a senior player is also on his way to sealing a permanent exit from the club with an offer of £13.2million to be accepted in the coming weeks.
