Damning stat shows Leeds United must make move to replace Patrick Bamford

Leeds United forward Patrick Bamford is again a man under question as his goals have dried up and now he has scary statistic attached to his name.

Bamford did little to regain some confidence surrounding his name against Arsenal on Sunday, misfiring a crucial penalty that would have secured his team some vital points.

So it will come as no surprise to Whites that a damning stat is being put upon the forwards head, one accolade no Premier League poacher wants to hold.

Football’s largest detailed football statistics website WhoScored have revealed a toothless stat that will leave the little confidence Bamford has in tatters.

“Patrick Bamford has missed the most clear-cut goalscoring chances in the Premier League this season (8). He has only started three games.”

Shocking stuff from Bamford, especially when you consider he’s been out for the majority of the campaign with an injury.

Goals.

Leeds United need goals and they need a proven poacher who will bag them something in a game like Sunday’s against Arsenal at Elland Road.

Yes, Bamford did a lot of things right but he also didn’t provide what fans and teams need from their forward, goals.

The Whites must look at some alternatives to Bamford in January and they surely will, the forward hasn’t bagged a competitive goal since December last year against Brentford, ouch.

The forward’s lack of confidence was plain to see in his penalty miss, not only did he not look like scoring it but it meant Leeds came away with nothing on the day.

All Whites know that Bamford has streaks of goalless runs but this simply isn’t good enough, if the team is to move forward they need a striker they can rely on weekly.

It’s all well and good reminiscing of the times when Bamford has gone on fantastic scoring runs but this has become too few and far between.

In other Leeds United news, a Sky Sports pundit has delivered Jesse Marsch’s “sack” verdict after what he heard this month.
