Leeds United most likely to complete signing of Sonny Perkins

Leeds United are likely to complete the signing of former West Ham striker Sonny Perkins in this summer window.

According to the reliable West Ham insider source ExWHUemployee, who has been the most accurate for transfer stories coming out from the London Stadium, the Whites remain on course to secure the services of the 18-year-old.

While he is still a teenager, he’s already made his European debut – coming off the bench for the Hammers in the Europa League last season.

Ex wrote, “Meanwhile Sonny Perkins looks most likely to join Leeds still, following the expiry of his contract at the club.”

Sign him

Perkins would be an exceptional young attacker but there is a caveat as his representatives caused a bit of a stir at his former club.

While tapping up happens all the time in the game, the Hammers took great offence at the unnamed club that made an approach to sign him.

Perkins’ contract there was running out and in their official statement, West Ham announced that they were disappointed with how the striker’s representatives acted.

Thorp Arch is an exceptional place for youngsters so despite how his representatives have acted, he’s a talented player and Leeds would be lucky to have him.

The pathway to the first team will also be pretty clear for him and he can use Joe Gelhardt and Sam Greenwood as examples of players who’ve quickly climbed the ranks.

There is a bit of personality in Perkins and it would be nice to see him developing and maturing at Elland Road before fighting for a senior role.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that a midfielder who was admired by Marcelo Bielsa is set to leave this summer.
