Leeds United ‘more likely’ to sign Wilfried Gnonto than Hwang Hee-chan – Dean Jones
Leeds United are “more likely” to sign FC Zurich striker Wilfried Gnonto this summer than Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan, according to Dean Jones.
The Whites are in the market to sign a striker to bolster their attacking unit for the rest of the 2022-23 campaign and for this reason, they have been linked with the above-mentioned players along with other targets as well.
Jones, while talking to Givemesport, suggests that Leeds are likelier to sign the 18-year-old in the ongoing transfer window which slams shut on Thursday.
“He’s [Gnonto] a more likely signing [than Hee-chan],” he said. “But he’s also a player of a certain age bracket that can just be developed and doesn’t necessarily have the pressure on him upon arrival.”
Much-needed
Leeds entered the transfer window knowing that they will have to sign a lot of players to bolster the squad that just managed to keep the club in the Premier League last season.

With less than a week remaining in the transfer window, the Whites have already made a number of inductions but despite that, one area is still looking vulnerable and that is the attacking front.
There has been an overreliance on the likes of Patrick Bamford who has had injury concerns in the last 18 months and therefore, it was clear that the club is in need of a centre-forward who can come in and hit the ground running straight away.
While Gnonto will not exactly fill that criteria but considering how thin Leeds are on that front, adding him will not be a bad idea at all.
Despite being so young, the 18-year-old has already represented his current club in 74 matches across all competitions where he has managed to score 12 goals and provided 10 assists as well [Transfermarkt].
