Leeds United mocked over Erling Haaland on Radio X, Chris Moyles reacts

Dominic Byrne aimed a dig at Leeds United live on Radio X for not signing Erling Haaland as Chris Moyles voiced his disapproval.

The 24-year-old became Norway’s all-time leading goalscorer on Thursday night [10 October] after his brace in the 3-0 UEFA Nations League win against Slovenia at the Ullevaal Stadion.

It is well-documented that the Whites had the opportunity to sign the forward, who was born in the city, during his time at Molde but were in no position to match the £4m valuation and the rest is history.

Byrne made a note to remind Leeds supporters of the failed signing live on Radio X [11 October, 8:07am] when reporting on another milestone reached by the Norweigan, much to the dismay of host Moyles.

He said: “Leeds reject Erling Haaland has broken another goalscoring record this time for Norway. The Manchester City striker scored twice in his country’s 3-0 Nations League win over Slovenia.

“It means he becomes their all-time leading goal scorer now. He’s scored 34 times in 36 games.”

Boyles could be heard reacting to the Leeds jibe in the background of the live report, replying “No”.

Leeds United and Erling Haaland could cross paths again

While it is not a regular occurrence for one of the most promising prospects in world football to be a Leeds supporter, unfortunately, it was not meant to be at Elland Road.

His career path from Molde to RB Salzburg then Borussia Dortmund and now Manchester City spanning four years is a testament to his meteoric rise to one of the most prolific forwards in the world.

The most pressing concern for the Whites now is cementing a return to the Premier League wherein the club will cross paths with Haaland once again, but, the side’s promotion aspirations took another blow after Illan Meslier gifted Sunderland a 97 minute equaliser in the 3-3 draw at the Stadium of Light.

Leeds are undoubtedly the biggest club currently in the second tier and arguably one of the biggest in England, the failures of the club seem to follow them wherever they go but the latest result is one setback of many set to come this season and Daniel Farke should pursue another promotion push this campaign.

Mateo Joseph and Joel Piroe are fighting out among themselves for the honour of leading the line for Leeds this season and for the level they are competing at, this is more than enough firepower to surge the side up the Championship table and into title contention.

Regrettably for Leeds supporters, the only time Haaland will line up at Elland Road will be in the sky blue of Manchester City. But fans can dream, and you never know, when he reaches the twilight years of his career he may well follow in the footsteps of his father Alf-Inge, and represent one of his other clubs.
