Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Bogusz ruled out for rest of season

Mateusz Bogusz will miss the rest of the season after the Leeds United midfielder’s loan spell at Ibiza took a crushing blow, according to AS.

The Spanish news website reports that Bogusz, 20, “will not play again this season with Ibiza” after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in January.

Poland Under-21 international Bogusz joined Ibiza in Spain’s second tier on a season-long loan in the summer.

Crushing blow

Bogusz is one of the more promising young players Leeds have out on loan but we really cannot see things going well for him due to this new injury.

The former Ruch Chorzow midfielder has played three times for Leeds’ senior side and was also included in their squad for their pre-season visit to Australia in 2019.

He was doing well at Ibiza this season, scoring four goals and supplying seven assists in 20 LaLiga2 appearances for the Balaeric outfit.

Bogusz was showing superb versatility by playing on the right and left wings while also impressing in the attacking midfield role.

As he can play in the middle of the park, he may have been someone who Leeds were thinking of utilising next season due to the midfield shortage currently impacting results at Elland Road.

While we wouldn’t expect Bogusz to be a star player for us instantly, he’s only young and he’s been doing very well at Ibiza.

But this injury is a major issue for Bogusz and could put paid to his chances of ever breaking into the senior side at Elland Road.

We wish Mateusz all the best in his recovery and we do hope he can recover and then play for Leeds. Unfortunately, it just seems unlikely.
