Leeds United midfielder Lewis Bate to return to Elland Road after season-ending news – Injury Expert

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Leeds United midfielder Lewis Bate avoided catastrophic trauma on his hand while he suffered a season-ending injury, claims Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the 20-year-old appears to be on course to return for the Whites in pre-season as he will not feature again in 202223.

Oxford United confirmed that he underwent surgery on 22 March after he broke a bone in his hand and it was an unavoidable issue.

It’s also understood that the Whites may prefer calling him back for his rehabilitation as he’s on their books and is not going to feature again for Oxford unless they buy him or loan him out again.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said, “We don’t have much information on the injury other than hand surgery but you certainly expect him back prior to pre-season unless it was some catastrophic hand trauma, which it is not.

“More than likely Bate will be returning to his parent club for rehabilitation and then into pre-season camp and training.

“Clubs typically want that continuity of care with their own players.”

Bate joined Leeds from Chelsea in 2021 and has already made a few first-team appearances under Marcelo Bielsa.

He impressed for the under-23s and that caught the Argentine’s eye who promoted him to the senior squad before giving him his debut against West Ham in the FA Cup in January 2022.

It remains to be seen if Leeds decide to keep him on next season or end up loaning him out again.

In other Leeds United news, a teenager now looks closer than ever after what he did at Thorp Arch during the international break with Javi Gracia taking note.
