Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton may require shoulder surgery – Injury Expert

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Leeds United...

Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton could require surgery on his shoulder amid his recent injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert believes that if the rehab is not helping then going under the needle may be the only solution for the 24-year-old.

Ahead of the Bristol City game before the international break, Daniel Farke said he hoped to have him back in a few weeks, but there has been no confirmation by the club.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Shackleton:

Based on reporting from the club, he will need further assessment as his pain level is still too high.

This could potentially mean surgery depending on the injury specifics and that rehab isn’t helping.

“Should he require surgery, he’s likely going to be out for multiple weeks and it remains to be seen what takes place during the break.

Shackleton has made seven league appearances for the Whites this season and has been an important utility player for Farke.

Despite being a central midfielder by trade, he has been deployed at right-back given Djed Spence’s injury and Luke Ayling’s form.

It’s fair to say that the 24-year-old has done a decent job in that role and all eyes will be on Farke’s injury update ahead of the Norwich City game on 21 October.

In other Leeds United news, Phil Hay claims that big European clubs have been keeping tabs on a Whites player for a while and are still willing to sign him.
