Leeds United medical next for Georginio Rutter with club-record deal all but done - L'Equipe
Leeds United have reached an agreement for a club-record deal worth €40m (£35m) for Hoffenheim striker Georginio Rutter with a medical next on the agenda, according to L’Equipe journalist Flavien Tresarrieu.
This will be music to the ears of the Elland Road faithful and fans will finally be getting the centre-forward that they have been craving for so long.
The journalist confessed that Leeds United are now just one step away from completing the blockbuster January signing with a medical pending.
“It’s taken time in recent hours but Hoffenheim and Leeds have reached an agreement for Georginio Rutter at 40 M €,” revealed Tresarrieu on Twitter.
“A record amount for the Peacocks. All that remains is to pass the medical examination for Georginio Rutter.”
The Whites look like they have all but confirmed the signing of Rutter, one which will send shockwaves to teams in and around Leeds United in the Premier League.
The club desperately needed to sign a new frontman this month and Rutter fits the bill for the kind of talent fans wanted to grace the Elland Road turf.
Everyone can now take a deep breath, after proceedings to sign the forward went quiet on Tuesday, Leeds United have been stung before in the transfer market.
It’s a premium fee for the France U21s striker but one that could prove to be a shrewd bit of business from the Whites and Victor Orta.
Rutter loves to run at defenders and seems to be a real nuisance for the opposition to defend against and whilst he doesn’t have the most prolific goalscoring record, he’s definitely a player who will fit well into Jesse Marsch’s system.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are keen on signing this Wolves player in January.
