Leeds United: Weston McKennie hijack from Nottingham Forest now on cards
Nottingham Forest are amongst the clubs considering hijacking Weston McKennie’s transfer to Leeds United, according to The Athletic’s David Ornstein.
Ornstein reports that Leeds United are in advanced talks to sign the 24-year-old midfield maestro on loan with the option to buy.
Nevertheless, other clubs are lurking, something which Whites fans won’t want to be hearing after days and hours of negotiations taking place.
“Nottingham Forest among clubs considering move to hijack proposed signing of Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie by Leeds,” said Ornstein on Twitter. (28 January, 12:35 PM)
“Leeds United in advanced talks for 24yo USA international on loan with option to buy, but Nottingham Forest + others lurking.”

Gulp.
So here we were thinking Leeds United were set for a smooth and sunny end to the January transfer window until this bombshell from Ornstein lands.
In the weird and wonderful world of the transfer window, anything is possible and it seems like McKennie’s transfer isn’t going to be as easy as first thought.
For some reason, this feels like Juventus trying to create a bidding war for the maestro between Premier League clubs and selling to whoever bids the highest amount.
A smart move by the Old Lady it must be said, but something that is extremely annoying if you are a fan of Leeds United on this Saturday afternoon.
Hopefully, the American charm of Tyler Adams and Jesse Marsch can be enough to steer McKennie clear of any other suitors in the English top flight.
With talks still in an advanced stage, the ball still feels like it’s in the court of Leeds United but as Everton found out with Arnaut Danjuma nothing is ever set in stone.
Leeds will want to avoid anything like that happening to them, or they risk suffering an embarrassing end to a successful transfer window.
