Leeds United may make new bid to sign Wilfried Gnonto within hours, door now open for exit

Leeds United could make a new bid for Zurich striker Wilfried Gnonto within hours, according to Alfredo Pedulla.

The Italian journalist has reported that the Swiss club have now started to open the exit door with a matter of days until the window shuts on Thursday evening [01 September].

Leeds have already seen a £4.2million offer rejected for the Italy international, with the asking price currently sitting at £6.8million with Monza sat waiting in the wings.

Gnonto leaving Zurich appears to be inevitable before Thursday.

The young striker is now in the final year of his contract and this may be the final chance to bring in some money for the Swiss club, with pre-contract opportunities starting in January.

Leeds will know this and are looking to take advantage.

Jesse Marsch has confirmed that the Whites do like Gnonto and he is one for the future if he does arrive in the next week, although he can still be in and around the first-team squad.

Get it done.

With a bid potentially coming in hours, we could see this one being put in place before the weekend is over.

Leeds are always ready to move if something pops up, with recent deadline day moves for the likes of Dan James and Raphinha proving that over the years.

Gnonto is a name that is failing to disappear, along with Wolves forward Hwang Hee-Chan, with a potential double deal on the cards this week.

That would silence a lot of doubters at Elland Road, with fans begging for new signings, although a new left-back appears unlikely as things stand.

With Junior Firpo on the verge of return and Pascal Struijk performing so well, it looks as though the priority is simply now the final third.

Gnonto would be a great new signing, and let’s hope that he isn’t the only one to arrive at Elland Road within days, with all eyes now on this potential new bid in the coming hours.
