Leeds United may be handed boost to hire Graham Potter ahead of Celtic after what he told his friends

Leeds United could be handed a boost to appoint former Chelsea and Brighton manager Graham Potter ahead of Celtic.

According to the Scottish Daily Mail [11 June, Page 100], Potter told his friends that he’s not interested in moving to Glasgow – where Celtic are based.

This will come as a huge boost to Leeds, who as per the Daily Mail [30 May, Page 66], are also interested in hiring him.

Potter built a reputation based on how his Swansea and Brighton sides played as they prioritised possession, high pressing and did not change their methods for any team.

He’s extremely methodical as a coach and is known to bring the best out of his players regardless of the level they’re at.

Pep Guardiola is a known admirer of the Englishman and even labelled him as “The best England manager I have met…” in 2020.

At Chelsea, too much was expected from him and too little time was given to clear up the mess caused by the new ownership.

He also had a bloated squad of players and not enough time to remove players that he didn’t need which eventually led to him losing his job.

San Francisco 49ers surely will have taken note of what he did right until the point he joined Chelsea and may consider handing him the keys to Elland Road.

If he’s willing to manage in the Championship, he will be the perfect appointment and with Celtic out of the race, it makes things that much easier for Leeds to convince him.

In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
