Leeds United: Manchester City ready Kalvin Phillips bid
Leeds United are readying themselves for a major bid from Manchester City for their star midfielder Kalvin Phillips, according to 90min.
The England international is very high on the Premier League champions’ summer shortlist having already had a bid accepted for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, who was born in Leeds and dad played for the Whites.
The 26-year-old could almost triple his wages by joining the Citizens at The Etihad and the move does appeal to I’m even though he would be happy to stay at Elland Road should no offer materialise.
City’s scouts have been hugely impressed by Phillips since they started following him in 2020 upon Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League and now they appear ready to bring him across the Pennines to Manchester.
The Whites could use this move to help them secure the signing of Valentin Castellanos who plays for City’s sister club New York City in the MLS and was the top scorer in the 2021 MLS as they went on to lift the cup.

Phillips has been at the club for a very long time having come through the academy at Thorp Arch but his stay in Yorkshire always had an expiry date on it.
We have never been quite sure of what that date would say but it now appears that the day he leaves is rapidly approaching and it is, sadly, Manchester where he will be heading next.
At least he isn’t joining the real enemies at Old Trafford and he will go on to have a fantastic career at The Etihad under Pep Guardiola and we’ll be seeing him lift the Premier League trophy among many others in the near future.
Jesse Marsch now has a huge task to find his ultimate replacement in the transfer market because players like him don’t keep being churned out by the academy.
Elland Road won’t feel the same without him in the midfield, scurrying around at the heels of the opposition and he will be sadly missed if he goes to City this summer.
In other Leeds United news, one of the relegated teams is set to lose a number of players and we are keen to bring an international to LS11 on a free transfer.
