Leeds United managerial target Marcelo Gallardo issues update on future
Leeds United managerial target Marcelo Gallardo has revealed that he wants to manage in Europe but does not mind waiting for the right job.
The Argentine manager was linked with a move to Elland Road after the club sacked Jesse Marsch and they ended up going for an interim appointment as he did not want to take over mid season.
It’s unclear whether or not Leeds will approach him again in the summer, but he has reiterated his desire of managing a big club.

He told the Athletic, “I am visualising what the next step in my career might be. It has to relate to a feeling. You have to find the right connection, the place where you can transmit your ideas.
“I’m not the kind of person who will just join any old club because I want to coach in Europe. That’s not my way of operating.
“I need to find a place that makes me feel something. I need a sense of identification. If I don’t get that, I have no problem continuing with what I’m doing now.”
Can Leeds convince him?
Gallardo’s stock is at a high after his stint at River Plate and he’s in a position to pick and choose his next club rather than take whatever he gets.
There certainly will be other clubs that are keen on appointing him, as they should be, and for Leeds to convince him, it’s going to take something special.
However, if there are new owners and they sell him their plans for taking the club to the next level, he may be open to moving to Elland Road.

They will obviously back him in the transfer market as that’s been the criticism of Andrea Radrizzani especially when Marcelo Bielsa was in charge.
Fans too, wouldn’t mind this move and it would be a signal to everyone that Leeds are heading in the right direction under new ownership.
However, it’s paramount that they stay in the Premier League to achieve this.
In other Leeds United news, a Whites player has a potential offer on the table and could seal his permanent Elland Road exit this summer.
