Leeds United manager update as Carlos Carvalhal leaves Celta Vigo, Celtic and Leicester City also want him

Carlos Carvalhal has been mooted to return to the United Kingdom again amid links to Leeds United, Leicester City and Celtic.

According to O Jogo [11 June, Page 25], the former Swansea City manager could “specifically” move to Scotland to replace Ange Postecoglou who joined Tottenham Hotspur.

The Portuguese manager parted ways with Celta Vigo on Saturday, 10 June, after guiding them to safety on the final day of the season.

Left field

It seems that every mid-table level manager is being linked with Celtic, Leicester or Leeds and it remains to be seen who ends up where.

Carvalhal may not be known to everyone but he’s got Premier League experience under his belt when he took over mid season at Swansea.

While that resulted in relegation in May, it does not tell the entire story as he managed to beat Arsenal and Liverpool and also earned himself a Manager of the Month nomination in January 2018.

Had Swansea and he not parted ways once relegation was confirmed, there was a good chance they would have bounced back up.

He’s certainly a left-field appointment but given his coaching methods and style of football, he may get the job done for Leeds.

Whether or not the San Francisco 49ers end up going for him remains to be seen as he’s certainly not everyone’s cup of tea.

In other Leeds United news, a BBC pundit has been left stunned as Phil Hay has dropped a fresh update on who the Whites are considering bringing in as manager this summer.
