Leeds United manager news as Javi Gracia expected at club this morning – Sky Sports

Sky Sports journalist Tim Thornton is reporting that Javi Gracia is expected to arrive at Leeds United within three hours to become their new head coach this morning.

The Leeds United soap opera finally seems to be coming to an end following the sacking of Jesse Marsch after the club’s defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Gracia is no stranger to the Premier League having managed Watford in the English top flight, guiding them to an FA Cup final during his time at the club.

“Javi Gracia is expected in Leeds this morning. More throughout the day on Sky Sports News,” shared Thornton on Twitter. (21 February, 8:20 AM)

Here we go.

The search for a new Leeds United manager finally seems to be coming to an end and whilst Gracia evidently isn’t the club’s first choice, he’s better than other options on offer.

Spells at Watford and Valencia prove that the Spaniard has more than enough experience to come into the fold at Elland Road and do a decent job.

Unfortunately, his time at both clubs listed above were brought to an early end, but reading between the statistics this wasn’t down to his poor managerial skills.

Watford are notorious for sacking managers at will and this was the case for Gracia at Vicarage Road, despite guiding the club to a domestic cup final and 11th-placed league finish.

Valencia was a different story altogether and whilst on paper it seems Gracia did a terrible job, he actually joined the team at the worst possible time.

The summer in which he came to the La Liga outfit the club lost a host of top talents and the Spaniard was given no funds to make any signings to replace any of them.

All in all, fans can look with some optimism towards this appointment, anything is better than the situation Leeds United are currently in and hopefully, Gracia can get things ticking again.
