Leeds United manager news as Graham Potter update emerges

Despite the odds shifting out of nowhere, it has been claimed that Graham Potter will not likely be the next manager of Leeds United, according to talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent, Alex Crook.

The Whites are still seeking a replacement for Sam Allardyce who was helpless over the last four games of last season to stop the club from falling into the Championship.

Former Chelsea and Brighton boss Potter remains an attractive proposition but he is not thought to be heading to West Yorkshire.

Writing on his Twitter account, Crook stated the following: “Despite the shift in betting odds, told it looks unlikely that Graham Potter will be the new LUFC manager.”

Several names have been linked with the vacant role at Elland Road, but nothing appears imminent.

One-horse race?

Several runners and riders have been named in recent weeks, with the predictable outcome of one or two falling as we move toward an outcome.

Graham Potter appears to be joining the likes of Steven Gerrard as rank outsiders, whilst Carlos Corberan’s previous Leeds credentials give him an advantage to an extent.

However, as reported yesterday by MOT Leeds News, Phil Hay relayed that Brendan Rodgers and Daniel Farke were considered as front runners for the job.

That contest could now become a one-horse race with the former Leicester head coach closing in on a return to Celtic.

Farke possesses significant knowledge of the Championship and most importantly, how to get out of it which will be a very appealing quality for Leeds chiefs when it comes to making an offer.

Leeds fans will be encouraged to hear that a decision is set to be made by the end of the week and unless there are any unexpected late developments, it appears that the German coach is on the home straight.
