Leeds United manager news as Graham Potter and Brenden Rodgers doubts emerge

Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter have been mentioned as names who could potentially take over at Leeds United, according to the Guardian.

Leeds and Sam Allardyce have agreed to part ways by mutual agreement, the club has now announced (2 June), with a new man expected within weeks.

With ownership turbulence between Andrea Radrizzani and the 49ers Enterprises though, it is suspected that it may be hard to convince either man to take over.

This now leaves Leeds searching for a third manager this calendar year.

According to a report in The Guardian (2 June), both Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers, who were sacked by Premier League clubs this season, are admired by Leeds executives and expected to be featured on a shortlist of potential candidates. West Brom manager Carlos Corberan and Lorient’s Regis Le Bris are also reportedly on this list.

But the current turbulence at the club would make it difficult to persuade either Rodgers or Potter to take the job.

Plenty of choices

While the experience of Rodgers and Potter would make either of them an incredible coup, the other two names on the list could also be fantastic appointments.

Le Bris is considered an up-and-coming talent in French coaching, while Corberan has experience working with Leeds, as Marco Beilsa’s first-team coach.

Whichever way you look at it, considering the difficulties Leeds are facing at the moment, their managerial shortlist suggests that they are not taking the Championship lightly, and want to make a positive appointment to take the club right back to the Premier League.

It is likely that any of the four managers mentioned would be more than capable of coaching a side to promotion from the Championship, and the appointment of Rodgers or Potter in particular could be a really exciting long-term option if either can be convinced.

Only time will tell if the club will be able to convince either to take the position.
