Leeds United manager news as Javi Gracia on verge of signing on dotted line

Leeds United are on the verge of completing their long-drawn manager hunt with Javi Gracia expected to sign on the dotted line at Elland Road, according to the Evening Standard.

The Whites have been on the hunt for a new head coach for some time now since the sacking of Jesse Marsch following their Premier League defeat to Nottingham Forest.

The Evening Standard report that Leeds United are in “advanced talks” with Gracia who is expected to sign a contract that will run initially until the end of this season.

Gracia has been out of work since leaving Qatari club Al Sadd in June, however, the Spaniard has had Premier League experience before, managing Watford.

During his time at Vicarage Road, the Spanish tactician guided the Hornets to an 11th-placed Premier League finish and an FA Cup final.

Exciting turn of events.

Gracia emerged from nowhere on the 20 February in true Leeds United fashion and now looks set to take over the reigns from caretaker boss Michael Skubala.

A fresh set of ideas, tactics and philosophy is needed right now at Elland Road and results surely can’t get any worse than they currently are.

The Spaniard wouldn’t have been the name on every fan’s lips to take the hot seat in West Yorkshire but he seems to be the best pick of a bad bunch right now.

It’s hard to pass too much judgement until Gracia has taken charge of a few games and none come much bigger than a relegation six-pointer against Southampton this weekend.

Are Leeds United due a new manager bounce? Hopefully, that old trick will play into the hands of Gracia and Leeds on 25 February.

It’s been pretty doom and gloom at Elland Road in recent weeks and it’s time to get behind a new manager and hope for the best, Premier League survival is all fans crave right now.
