Leeds United manager news as Daniel Farke fancies Elland Road job as ‘Devil’ Brendan Rodgers closes in on Celtic
Former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke fancies the managerial vacancy at Leeds United, according to Stephen McGowan.
The Guardian reported on 15 June that the German was on a three-man shortlist for the job at Elland Road, alongside West Brom manager Carlos Corberan and ex-Fulham boss Scott Parker.
Brendan Rodgers was another name who was tipped to succeed Sam Allardyce in West Yorkshire, however, Celtic are now set to appoint the 50-year-old, who the Scottish Daily Mail journalist has labelled a “devil” they know.

“A list of runners and riders featuring Enzo Maresca and Daniel Farke was patchy and unconvincing. Maresca – assistant manager to Pep Guardiola – made it clear he would rather stay in England,” McGowan wrote in the Scottish Daily Mail. [17 June, page 114]
“Farke was sacked by Borussia Monchengladbach and fancied the Leeds United job.
“Managers willing to entertain a move to Scotland in the current climate are hardly ten-a-penny.
“And for Celtic, Rodgers is the devil they know.”

Sensible
Farke is a proven Championship winner, and Leeds United shouldn’t hesitate to snap him up as their manager this summer.
If the Whites want to bounce straight back up to the Premier League, they need someone at the helm who has prior experience in the second division and knows how to navigate his team amid the league’s manic schedule.
The Championship is widely regarded as one of the toughest leagues in the world to get promoted out of, and it looks incredibly stacked next season.
With Ipswich Town and Sheffield Wednesday getting promoted out of League One and the likes of Middlesbrough and Sunderland failing at the playoff stages last season, there are several teams who will consider themselves as promotion hopefuls.
During his time with the Canaries, Farke was a machine in the Championship, and if he is keen on the move to Elland Road, Leeds could go far worse than to offer him the job.
In other Leeds United news, Newcastle United want to sign one Whites man to help unleash Bruno Guimaraes.
