Leeds United manager news as £8m Nuno Espirito Santo release clause issue emerges
Leeds United face yet another issue in their search for a new manager with potential candidate Nuno Espirito Santo having an £8million release clause from Al-Ittihad, according to 90min.
The report shares that it remains to be seen if Leeds United would be willing to pay that, however, a move back to the Premier League does appeal to Nuno.
90min report that former Aston Villa and Rangers boss Steven Gerrard is also being considered for the role after the club backed away from a move for Alfred Schreuder.

“Former Aston Villa and Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has shown an interest in the role and is being considered. Part of Gerrard’s team, should he be appointed, would also be former Leeds midfielder Gary McAllister. which would no doubt appeal to the club’s fans,” as quoted by 90min. (14 February)
“Another name on Leeds’ radar is former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo. Currently coaching in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ittihad, it is believed a move back to the Premier League does appeal to the Portuguese.
“One issue with a deal for Nuno is that he does have a release clause worth up to £8m and it remains to be seen if Leeds would pay that. The size of release clause was an issue in their initial pursuit of Iraola, and their lack of commitment to pay it led to him turning them down.”

Poor decisions.
Poor decisions from Andrea Radrizanni and Victor Orta have left Leeds United in a far more precarious position than when Jesse Marsch was still in charge.
Schreuder would probably be getting ready to be unveiled today if it wasn’t for fans voicing their concerns online about the former Ajax boss’ credentials.
Now, it seems the board are even more stuck in their painfully slow decision-making tactics, short-term? Long term? Who knows at this point?
At this rate keeping Michael Skubala at the helm for the rest of the campaign wouldn’t be the worst choice possible but it’s ridiculous that it’s even come to that.
With a must-win clash against fellow relegation strugglers Everton coming up on 18 February there seems to be little urgency to sort this mess out.
The club are now at their fifth and sixth manager choices at best with the likes of Gerrard and Nuno being nowhere near the picture when Marsch was initially relieved of his duties.
Same story, different day.
