Leeds United manager news: Andrea Radrizzani announcement wanted at Elland Road amid Daniel Farke update

Leeds United are not expected to make an announcement on their new manager until Andrea Radrizzani is officially gone, according to Leeds Live.

The latest update from the Daily Mail on Wednesday morning (28 June) reported that Daniel Farke is expected to now be finalised, but while work is going on behind the scenes on the important matters in the transfer market the wait goes on for him to be unveiled.

Interviews, which also included Patrick Vieira and Scott Parker [Phil Hay, 23 June], were concluded days ago, but the club want the new 49ers era to be officially cleared to make a definitive break from reign of Radrizzani before they announce.

Beren Cross writes for Leeds Live Wednesday (28 June): “While EFL reviews the paperwork, ducks are being lined up for the new era to move quickly under the stewardship of chairman-elect Paraag Marathe.

“Interviews with head coach candidates concluded last week, but LeedsLive understands that announcement is unlikely to come until Andrea Radrizzani’s tenure has officially ended.

“Marathe and the new board want, and need, to push forwards with vigour once they officially have control of the club. All they, and [Nick] Hammond, can do is ensure as much preparation as possible is done ahead of time.”

Ticking on

The appearance currently is that everything is ready to go and Leeds United is just treading water waiting for the EFL to give the official thumbs up.

As long as Marathe and Hammond can continue work behind the scenes, presumably with Farke’s input, then perhaps that isn’t too much of an issue.

But every day that passes is a day where the landscape can change in an important transfer window before the trigger can be pulled on moves, and subsequent activity that can only be embarked on once earlier work is completed has to wait.

Given Farke and his team were apparently somewhat uncomfortable with the fact that the hierarchy at the club was in flux then the delay in announcement is perhaps as much from his end as the club’s, assuming he is indeed incoming.

But the German will have to trade off more clarity on his working environment with actual time in which to work through the preseason.

As long as he is in by Sunday (2 July) then he can welcome returning players and juggle preparations with them at the training ground with business in the market, but it is going to be all systems go on multiple fronts once an announcement comes to get everything in order for the start of the new campaign.
